Faces travelled to Ryan in the Essex Cup with a makeshift squad following Oti's departure to the first team, Jamie Orr working and Greg Reid who was babysitting, all missing. On arrival we were greeted with the usual poor facilities from our hosts, most notably the kids game taking place in the middle of the already cut up pitch when there were other pitches available which beggared belief.

The game got under way with a delayed kick off so the home team could put up their nets and wait for some more players to turn up. Faces dominated the open exchanges against Ryan who eventually started with 10 men. Faces were knocking the ball around using the extra man well as their opponents got men behind the ball well as they waited for re-enforcements.

Faces were dealt an injury blow when Paul Kelly was force to leave the field after 5 minutes and was replaced by Daniel Redgrave. Faces didn't really create many chances and Ryan were soon back up to a full eleven men. Faces were dealt a further blow on 20 minutes when Liam Dooley was forced off to be replaced by Gary Bird. The home side began to improve as the changes to Faces team seem to disrupt the flow. Shaun Crocker making a couple of outstanding saves to keep the half time score 0-0.

The second began and Faces finally opened the scoring when a loss cross was diverted into his own net by the unfortunate full back. Faces were defending well and looking to add to their tally but the home side were also looking dangerous on the break. With 25 minutes to go the home side was rewarded when Dayne Wyatt crashed in a deserved equaliser. 1-1.

The game was becoming a feisty encounter as the home side were more concerned with making stupid noises then actually playing football. At this level opponents should be treated with respect, and Ryan would do well to recognise this as they are not a dirty side but were very disrespectful. The home side began to step up the pressure and with 10 minutes to go Dayne Wyatt scored again to put the home side in front. Faces tried to respond but as they chased the equaliser Dayne Wyatt completed his hat trick on the break. Final score 3-1

Star man: Shaun Crocker - Good saves, played on with bad injury great attitude

Managers Verdict: Poor day at the office against admittedly a good side that could do with learning a bit of respect for their opponents.

Thats all the thanks i get ay..
We'll I'd give myself the Star Man.
Was there for the team Saturday helping out with the water bottles. Running up and down the Line in the drizzle was hard work. Collecting all training balls that no-one bothers getting. Cheers

To be fair a goalie should never get star man with letting 3 goals in. No fault to Shaun he made some quality saves to keep us in the game. But star man in my eyes was Dayne Wyatt. Our defence couldnt handle him!

Cheers FacesFootballClub.
Good Luck faces against Canning Town.
