After 2 defeats on the spin Faces took on Hannakins Farm at home attempting to get their recent good run back on track. Jon Wightman picked up March player of the month after some top draw performances.
The game started in farcical circumstances with the away side starting the game with only 8 men. The 5-1-1 formation caused confusion early on with Faces trying to force the game too much and get out of site within the first 10 minutes.
The visitors to their credit defended the opening 10 minutes manfully and no real chances were created. Once the rest of the team arrived after 10 minutes the game settled down and Faces began to dominate.
Chances came and went most notably a Liam Dooley header drawing a fine save from the keeper. The away side were defending well and Faces were finding it hard to break them down. Hannakins then had a rare breakaway and Danny Reds hauled down the centre forward to concede a penalty.
The spot kick was driven hard and low into the corner but James Donga produced a stunning save to keep the score 0-0 at half time.
The second half was more of the same, Faces attacking with the away side defending for their lives. Needing a win Faces changed their shape to really go for the game and were rewarded when Jon Wightman opened the scoring.
Pretty much game over as the away side tired and chances began to flow. Liam Dooley had a long range effort tipped over and Craig Critchell went close. Jon Wightman struck the bar with another stunning effort. The game was put to bed when Craig Critchell unselfish laid the ball off to Liam who side footed home to make the final score 2-0.
Good to get back to winning ways.
