Faces entertained Ongar in a bottom of the table clash with both sides knowing that a win would propel them up the table and condemn there opponents to the relegation zone. With Manager Gareth Collins back in rehab, proceedings were taken by Director of Football, Paul Baker & 1st Team Coach, Gary Coxall. Changes were made beforehand with Luke Roust deputising in goal and Billy Swick coming in for his 1st senior game of the season.
The game started in good football conditions on a slick surface and Faces began to dominate the early possession without creating too many clear cut chances. As in previous games, it was then an individual error, this time by Darren Chetcuti, who misjudged the ball that allowed Graham Jeater in on goal to coolly slot home with the visitors first attack of the game. 0-1 to Ongar.
The usual gremlins then surfaced with players bickering and blaming each other rather than collectively working together to get back into the game. Despite the problems Faces created a couple of half chances but could not find the equalizer and it was the visitors who were rewarded again when Graham Jeater was found in acres of space on the corner of the box to smash home his second of the game. 0-2.
Heads began to drop for Faces and it was soon 3-0 to Ongar when Ben Polley's cross come shot cannoned in off the crossbar when the keeper should have done better. With the game approaching half time Faces were then given a lifeline with a goal of the season contender. James Danderson who was getting forward at every opportunity unleashed a screamer from all of 30 yards that found the top corner. Half time 3-1 to Ongar.
A dressing down was given at half time and with the away side carrying a few fatties in their team, Faces sensed they could still get something out of the game with the next goal being crucial. The home team again began the half dominating possession but the game plan went completely out the window when a melee ensued after the tubby Ongar midfielder stamped on Snowy Barlow. Damien Yoxall was needlessly sent off for raising his hands in the aftermath and somehow the original culprit went unpunished.
Faces still looked the more dangerous even with 10 men and reduced to deficit to 3-2 when Darren Chetcuti bundled the ball in from close range. The home side continued to push forward in search of an equalizer but with 10 minutes left were left exposed two on one at the back and Graham Jeater killed off the game and completed his hat trick after rounding the keeper. Final score 2-4 to Ongar.
Manager's verdict: Poor performance and attitudes against a poor Ongar side. A long season ahead unless things improve.
James Danderson: A stunning strike and goal. The only good thing from a dreadful Faces performance.
